The CAROS Foundation

The non-profit organization Caros was set up in 1982 and was born out of a group of occultists, who called themselves "The Stork-Lodge", who were a group that made Amsterdam it's home in 1860. Using the knowledge that has survived through time this organization passes on this knowledge and has since created an excellent reputation in the realm of Occult Knowledge, Teachings and Rituals of Higher Magic, and Authentic Knowledge and Teachings of Wicca (i.e. Witchcraft).

If you are interested in becoming an occultist or a Wiccan, and you agree with and respect the goals of the Caros-Lodges, this is how you join us. There is a € 13,60 registration fee, that covers administration costs, and this sets you on a list of candidates for entry and membership to a lodge. Also, to register you need a legitimate and up to date proof of identity and two passport-photo's.

Persons who wish to join one of the Caros-Lodges are obliged to answer questions that give information about their personality, the condition of their health, and to tell about the use of medicines or drugs.

When membership to the Caros-Praefectus Lodges is approved, the student is allowed entrance to one of the Caros- Lodges and is required to take an oath of secrecy so that in this manner the methods of the teachings of the Caros are protected. Taking part in a Caros Lodge is not bound to any particular length of time. You can stop coming to meetings at any time and give up membership at the end of the year. The Caros lodges are devided according to the knowledge and craft that has been learned.

At every lodge meeting, one is required to wear lodge-clothing, which during the first years, consists of a brown shroud. The brown tint is used because it has the absorbing and non-disturbing qualities needed while working in the area's of the occult sciences. Also, at every lodge meeting, the Carost is required to have upon request to be seen, his or her Syngraphus. This Syngraphus is a membership identity card from the lodge, and on this card, one finds such information as:

  1. A photo of the Carost
  2. Name
  3. Rank
  4. Year of study (Grade)
  5. Title
  6. Membership number
  7. Length of validity of the Syngraphus.
  8. Name of the Caros-Lodge where the Carost is allowed entry to

The non-profit organization Caros has an extensive library, with the possibility for every Carost to read any of these books for a minimal fee. These books are necessary for study and practice of Occult Science.
